The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) held 8th Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference & Exhibition (8th GHAC) scheduled from the 19-21 October 2016 at the Melia Castilla in Madrid, Spain. It was held in collaboration with ICAO, FAA, EASA, IFALPA, COPAC, SENASA, FSF, IATA, Spanish Ministries of (Public Works – Fomento, Foreign Affairs, Economy – ICEX), the City Council of Madrid – Madrid Convention Bureau, Spanish Civil Aviation Authority, Spanish airport company, United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (UAE GCAA) among many others.
What is GHAC?
This global conference aims to create dialogue amongst aviation industry stakeholders on the importance of humanitarian air operations. Furthermore, the conference topics took a closer look on existing and globally accepted aviation safety standards and identified aviation safety concerns not just for the benefit of the World Food Programme’s air operation, but for the entire global aviation sector.
