About ESASI
ESASI is the European chapter of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI) with a particular focus on current European issues in the investigation and prevention of accidents and incidents. ISASI’s mission is to promote air safety by the exchange of ideas, experiences and information about the findings from and outcomes of aircraft accident investigations, and to otherwise aid in the advancement of flight safety; to promote technical advancement by providing professional education through lectures, displays and presentations and by the exchange of information for mutual development of improved investigations; to broaden professional relationships among members; to maintain and increase the prestige, standing and influence of the Air Safety Investigator in matters of air safety.
ESASI FocusOn
Each ‘FocusOn…’ is a virtual event lasting between one and two hours, which focuses on one specific topic relating to safety investigation. The aim is to educate new investigators and to inform our members and the intention is to run two sessions per year in addition to our annual seminar or workshop. ‘FocusOn…’ is free to attend, a recording of each session will be available from the ESASI website and may be freely used for the enhancement of aviation safety.
Communicating with families
FocusOn topic on the important subject of ‘Communicating with Families’. It took place on Wednesday 15 November 2023, and was held on Zoom.
An line-up of presenters examined this topic from the perspective of an airline, a safety investigation authority, a crisis management company, a legal organisation, and most importantly, the families who have suffered a loss. It was chaired by Geraint Herbert, Principal Inspector at the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
