Monica Macafferri represented Ms. Pilar Vera, Chair of the Air Crash Victims’ Families’ Federation International (ACVFFI) at the ICAO Regional Workshop on Gender Equality and Empowering Women in Aviation, held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on March 4-5, 2025.
Monica, a dedicated Friend Member of ACVFFI and an expert in family assistance at Bologna Airport, delivered a presentation emphasizing the crucial role of women in supporting victims of air tragedies and their families.
Highlights from ACVFFI’s Presentation
Monica highlighted the unique position of ACVFFI as the first and only international organization recognized by the ICAO to represent the voices of air crash victims and their families. Founded in Madrid by Pilar Vera and associations from Germany and Pakistan, working tirelessly to improve air safety, assist victims, and advocate for better investigation and prevention of air accidents.
The presentation underscored the significant contributions of women within ACVFFI, who, despite their diverse backgrounds and responsibilities, are united in their commitment to this cause. She shared inspiring stories of women like Claudia Carrasco, an active pilot and mother of three, and who balances her professional work with her dedication to ACVFFI.
