On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of ICAO, the ICAO Council held an extraordinary session in the same hotel room where the Convention establishing ICAO was signed on 5 December 1944. It was attended by the 36 representatives of the Council and the Representatives of the 193 Member States, as well as the International Organisations accredited to ICAO.
For the first time, and at the request of the ACVFFI Chairwoman, which had requested this on previous anniversaries, the President of ICAO Council granted the ACVFFI Representative the same time as the other organisations, demonstrating the commitment and respect that the Air Crash Victims’ Families’ Federation International has earned since its creation in 2015 and its recognition by the ICAO Council in 2016.
