Second ICAO Civil Aviation Legal Advisors Forum

Launched by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Civil Aviation Legal Advisers Forum is a platform for legal advisors to share views, knowledge and experience on issues in the civil aviation field, and to discuss various challenges faced by state parties, potential cooperation opportunities and possible solutions to address challenges emanating from technical, social and economic development. The first edition of the forum was held in May 2019 in Singapore. The event featured presentations on various civil aviation subjects given by more than 30 professionals across the globe.

ACVFFI presented in the 40th ICAO Assembly Working Paper 434 Best Practices On Victim Assistance Regarding Compensation Of Insurers. Later, the Federation participated in the 2022 ICAO Legal Seminar to inform and update government officials on the Work Programme of ICAO in the legal field. Therefore, ACVFFI participated in CALAF/2 too.

ACVFFI aims to improve family assistance after an air disaster anywhere. The compensations are another interaction with families and victims, so we should share our experiences and suggestions.

Mr. Francisco Vasques-Tenreiro is a pro-bono collaborator. He attended CALAF/2 from the 21st to the 13th of February in Muscat, Oman. He participated in Part 2, Panelists offered the perspectives of victims’ families, insurers, legal practitioners, and airlines on how the compensation framework and mechanisms through the implementation of the Montréal Convention 1999 serve air accident victims.
